Pindito
- Sorong- Equator
This
cruise gives you the impressions of the Indopacific and
the Pacific Sea. Untouched landscapes and impressing huge
coral banks dominate these very thinly populated isles.
The
Pindito crew has explored the dive sites around and near
the Equator. This cruise offers you new unexplored areas,
where very few people have dived before. The number of isles
is immense. Right in the equator and very close to the island
of Kawe there is a little island called Batu Jamur. This
rocky peak that stands out of the sea is an "eldorado"
for every macro freak. Tunicas, feather stars, nudibranches,
just as bigger animals like napoleons, wrasse, moray eels
and epaulet sharks can be seen.
North
of the equator lies the archipelago of Waijag. Many different
outlying islands offer wonderful coral gardens and many
different fishes.
While diving you will be seeing nurse sharks. On the northern
island of Uraine you can admire schools of sleeping surgeon
fish in huge caves. North of Waigeo lay the three huge atolls
of Asia, Aiu and Bud. Steep slopes covered by fantastic
coral gardens. The northern shore of Waigeo with its hidden
bays and pinnacles promise the most spectacular impressions
during this tour.
Day
1
Pick up at the airport of Sorong from our German and English
speaking crew member. Short private transfer to the peer
and embarking. As soon as all guests are on board and are
holding their welcome drink the Pindito is ready to leave
the harbour. You will be introduced to the crew members
and you will be shown around in order to start feeling at
home on the Pindito.
During this cruise breathtaking isle landscapes with crystal
clear waters, lonely beaches and lots of possibilities for
land excursions and only the best of diving are waiting
for you.
Day
2
Jef Fam is the first group of isles that you will reach
after the first night of cruising. The labyrinth like scenario
is the beginning of what you will see in the coming few
days!
your Check-Dive à la Pindito will be
an exciting spot already! Feel like meeting a Wobbegong
shark? Or do you rather go for a giant clam? The region
of Batu Burung with its dive sites covered with hard corals
will let your heart hammer fast! Another dive spot is Dinding
Mera: a wonderful red wall full of soft corals and nudibranches.
Or Warna Banyak, a place for a relaxing drift dive in a
channel where you´ll see corals in all their different
colours right up to the top of the reef. These are only
a few of the sites that are just around you!
Day
3
Kawe is our next target, which lies in the middle or rather
on top of the equator! Jurang Dalam or the so called deep
valley is a hot spot on only 8 meters depth and seems to
have a magical attraction for Sweet Lips, Wrasses and Cardinalfish.
Batfish and napoleons feel very comfortable too in this
place as well as at Batu Kiri or at Hutam Hitam. The place
Berbados Cadas with its splitted rocks and its Dive-Through
are a welcome change to the excellent diving scenes of this
region.
Day 4 and Day 5
Wajag is THE island paradise of the North. During various
zodiac excursions through the labyrinth you will gather
impressions that you will never forget about. Enjoy these
breathtaking images that will spoil your eyes!
Underwater you will meet a bizarre landscape. Jamur Selatan,
Jamur Tengan & Utara rise up in the sea like mushrooms.
Depending on the current you can easily dive around them.
When you are lucky, the currents from the Antarctic will
bring cool water and huge schools of jackfish, tuna, rays
and every now and then even blue marlins to these dive sites.
This is diving as it should be!
Day
6
We will reach Uranie on the following day. A huge cavern
is waiting to be explored! No worries, claustrophobia will
not be a hassle. Since the cavern is as big as a cathedral
and you can see the light coming in through gaps and cracks
everywhere. The atmosphere is nearly mystical and very calm,
full of fascination light shades. The sleeping sharks on
the caverns ground seem not real and it definitively is
a unique dive spot. After these impressions we move on to
Batu Coquille. Huge rocks rise up from the ground and water
and is being surrounded my manta rays and barracudas that
love this spot because of its current. Whoever prefers to
have a calmer dive site can dive right there where the Pindito
is anchored and look out for blue ring octopuses or mandarin
fish.
Day 7
In Waigeo, Sel Pele we have the chance to visit a pearl
farm. Depending on where they stand with the pearl production
we will be invited to have a closer look on how the pearls
are being produced.
Of course we have been diving before and after this visit
and the high light of these dives where the pigmys. Those
cute little creatures are hidden in the gorgonias in all
colours available: red, yellow and orange! The only creatures
that are offering more colours of the rainbow are nudibranches
and the pipe fishes.
Day
8
Eagle Rock is just around the corner and is completely different
to what you have seen so far. The stand alone rocks in the
middle of the sea are always worth a picture or two. Splendid
visibility, white beaches with black coral gardens, Süsslippen,
batfish and different kinds of rays are part of these dives.
And since it is such a fantastic area above and under water
we shall go back to the bay of Sel Pele again in the afternoon.
Day 9
Wafak is the so called back forest of Indonesia. In about
30 meters depth a black coral garden is waiting for you!
thanks to Nitrox you can make your dream come true and let
you stay there for a while! We stay in the middle of these
islands and for a change have a sun-set dive, in order to
find mandarin fish and mimic octopus!
Day 10
Mansuar! Since we have discovered this place as a manta
ray hot spot, nobody wants to leave the water anymore, when
dozens of these huge black creatures are flying by. Further
comments won´t express what you feel down there!
Day 11
Kri, since Dr. Allen has broken the world records in counting
different species, this dive spot is world famous! Michel
Aw has shot his nicest pictures here and therefore we finish
off our dives in the precious area. These dive spots are
a class of their own! On our way back to Sorong we have
a captains party on deck. Our crew will sing traditional
songs and dance the Boco Boco!
Day 12
Sorong. Already we have got to the end of this cruise. We
organise the transfer back to the airport of Sorong and
say goodbye to you! Hoping to have you on board the Pindito
again!
