Dive Sites  Bunaken
National Park itself offers some 25 dive sites spread around 5 different
islands. The health of the Reefs, the incredible bio-diversity, some of the best
wall and drift diving you can imagine; this is a place where you will run out
of time before you run out of dive spots.
From Manado
your diving choice is huge, for not only do the waters of Bunaken, Lembeh &
Bangka have the richest bio-diversity in the world, many of the dive sites have
been under long-term protection and are in pristine condition.
Altogether,
there are well over 100 dive sites within easy reach from the resort.

The
Resort
 Murex
Manado is located right on the beachfront in the Village of Kalasey, across the
bay from Manado city. It’s set in a beautiful tropical garden with lovely
mature trees towering over a tranquil running stream.
Recreational activities
include swimming, snorkelling and a house reef right at the front - 50 metres
from your bedroom.
With easy beach front access, Murex is also ideal for
diver/non diver couples.
The food is great - full of local flair and flavour,
it's fresh, varied, very tasty and there's plenty of it - enough to keep any active
diver happy !
There's a choice of cuisine at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Between meals complimentary tea, coffee and ice water is available whilst in the
afternoons local snacks are served to keep your energy up until dinner. At least
once a week, there's a barbecue banquet with whole spit roasted pig, barbecue
fish, prawns, and a variety of very delicious local dishes along with the freshest
of seasonal fruits.
Meals are served at the waterfont restaurant where you
can enjoy views of the bay ! Accommodation
 Air
conditioned and fan cooled bungalows are quiet, clean, comfortable and spacious.
Each has an attached private bathroom and a twin or double bedded configuration.
Some bungalows
are spacious enough to accommodate up to two young children. Dive

Diving arrangements are flexible as the diving can be tailored
to your level of experience and personal preferences offering boutique dives with
limited numbers to ensure individual attention and uncrowded dive sites !
All instructors and divemasters are PADI, NAUI, or Association of Nitrox
Dive Instructors (ANDI) certified. Murex is the only dive operation in Northern
Sulawesi to offer NITROX. The dive staff who work with nitrox have all completed
ANDI nitrox certification.
In addition Murex also rents nitrox compatible
regulators and computers.
Most of the dive team have been at Murex for years and not only are they supremely
experienced at guiding guests, they know the sites intimately and go out of their
way to show you the interesting creatures that inhabit them.
Dive briefings
are mandatory and comprehensive. All dive crew members are completely fluent in
English – many are fluent in other languages too.
All dive boats
carry oxygen and all dive staff are fully trained in its use. There is a hyperbaric
(re-compression) chamber at Manado General Hospital, which Murex’s founder
and owner, Dr Batuna, set up.
 Special
dive trips to Lembeh
(If you have always wondered what muck-diving is
all about, then here is your opportunity to try it out). If you have prepaid your
dives in the package, an additional fee of US$20 applies (minimum 2 divers).

Facilities
Modern facilities available, you can have your digital photos burned to CD,
rent cameras and accessories, and get advise from the experts. Activities
Manado and North Sulawesi have lots of interesting things to do other than
diving.
You can go jungle trekking, climb one of the volcanos, see a lake
that changes colour according to the sun's position, visit a vibrant local market
with a huge variety of colorful local fare, go white water rafting, horse ride
in the hills, or just chill out in beautiful park-like surroundings in the cool
of the hills.
Manado city itself is worth a visit and there is a lovely
walk along the bay side at night. Manadonese people pride themselves on their
sophistication and the town reflects this.
A largely Christian province,
Manado has no history of terrorism or unrest of any sort so you can be confident
that your time here will be stress and trouble free.
