Komodo
Dancer offers 7 & 10 night cruises the Komodo Island
region in comfort and style !
Komodo Dancer is a proud member of the Peter Hughes worldwide
fleet of top quality liveaboard vessels. Based in Bali,
she explores the abundant waters in and around the unique
Komodo & Flores Island region. Vibrant local cultures,
Komodo Dragons, colorful coral reefs, abundant marine life
coupled with superior accommodations make Indonesia and
the Komodo Dancer your next stop in diving adventure.
Komodo Island & Marine Park
Officially
declared a World Heritage Site in 1991, the Komodo Marine
Park encompasses 132,000 hectares of marine waters making
it one of the largest protected zones on the planet. The
number and variety of islands which include Rinca, Padar,
Komodo and several smaller isles, combined with current,
wave action and wind exposure, result in an incredible variety
of coastal and marine habitats. These legendary islands
are the only habitat and home where the Komodo "dragons"
still live and roam freely. The Komodo dragons are survivors
of the prehistoric carnivores that thrived in tropical Asia
some 100 million years ago.
Wild eroded mountains and deserted bays with fine pink and
white sand beaches and spectacular underwater world dominate
these secluded islands..
The water's surrounding Komodo play host to an immense range
of underwater environments - reef walls, seamounts, rocky
outcrops, and pristine coral-reefs.
Sustainable fishing practices and eco tourism are prevelent
in the this region and there are few signs of reef destruction.
Being so close to land at most times means there are plenty
of opportunities to interact with the traditional seafaring
locals.
Visiblity is clear, waters warm and the density of divers
is minimal.
