The Malagan Lodge beach resort is located directly in Kavieng.
Set on a beautiful waterfront, the Malagan is only a five
minute stroll from the sleepy town of Kavieng. It's is a
good base for an adventure or a relaxing holiday.
Features
The resort has an a-la-carte restaurant overlooking the
beach. The bar is a very good place to relax after an exiting
day of diving. Check out the in house art shop to pick up
some of the famous Malagan Carvings.
Accommodation
The
resort features sixteen fully self-contained air conditioned
units each with a private bathroom, multi channel television,
IDD telephone and all modern amenities. The rooms are all
having a balcony or terrace facing the water front. We recommend
the resort especially if you don't want to miss the amenities
of a modern hotel during your dive vacation.
Dive area
At change of tides a lot of water has to be moved between
the open Pacific and the Bismarck Sea. The only way through
are the many channels between the islands to the north of
Kavieng. This is the setting for some exciting current dive
which attracts the variety of fish life that Kavieng has
become famous for. There are also sheltered reefs and of
course a number of very accessible wrecks that can be dived.

Dive Shop
For diving services, we recommend Lissenung
Diving. They provide resort style accommodation, but
will pick you up at the Malagang Lodge daily, if prefer
to stay there.
Activities
Apart from diving, guest at the resort can undertake a
number of activities which include cycling, canoeing, boat
tours or fishing tours.
